Rite Aid opened this store, located right in the middle of Melvindale's small downtown area and just a stone's throw away from the Detroit city limits, the Ford River Rouge Complex, and previously-featured-on-this-blog Best Buy #1406 , on May 11, 1997. Just recently, this store's exterior, just like an increasing number of Rite Aid stores, received an exterior remodel that saw the removal of the original blue entrance awnings and their replacement with the new logo. This post will look at retail in multiple Southeast Michigan cities. Finally, one of the most anticipated events to happen on this blog...the Family Video posts have begun! This post, the first of the series, is the list of all of the Family Video stores in southeast Michigan as of 2017, nearly four years before Family Video went out of business due to COVID and the resulting delays in new movie releases in turn triggering customer traffic declines. I am especially emphasizing 2017 specifically because this was before Family Video began the first of a series of closures leading up to the full closures in early 2021.
